National Minimum Wage Update

The UK Government has announced the annual increases in National Minimum Wage rates to apply from 1 April 2021.
The biggest change is that the National Living Wage has been extended to include 23 and 24 year olds for the first time; until now it has applied only to those aged 25 or over.
The new rates from April 6 2021 are as follows:
- age 23 or over (National Living Wage rate): £8.91
- age 21 to 22: £8.36
- age 18 to 20: £6.56
- age 16 to 17: £4.62
- apprentice rate: £4.30
All workers are legally entitled to be paid the National Minimum Wage. This includes temporary seasonal staff, who often work short-term contracts in bars, hotels, shops and warehouses over the summer or other periods.
